There are several videos that claim to be beginner guides but this is the only true beginner guide. Thanks so much for this.
extremely good content
Thank you Jeremy!
hands down the best tutorial on cycles
This really kicks ass. Thanks for making a musical and fun tutorial
Brilliant video - makes more sense to me than the days I’ve spent trying to figure the manual - well done
I've spent about 6hrs watching this 30min video. So freaken great! Thank you!
This makes me want to get a model cycles again.
Let's play Elektron Model:Cycles together like we used to when we were kids!
Many thanks EZBOT, this is the best tutorial for the Cycles that I've sen. Lots of really useful tips and info about how the device works.I feel like I'm well on my way to being a Cycles maestro.
hey- i just wanted to say thanks for this video. this was really helpful, especially considering that other videos did not show many of these features clearly and the manual is one of the worst i have ever read. its a great bit of gear but i was getting frustrated with it until i watched this. good on you!
Thank you for the secret mute mode, such a useful tip!
Love your video. Immediately subscribed. My buddy let me borrow his models cycles for a week and this video literally let me just dive in and jam. Great way to introduce this beastly machine and entry ways to Elektron. For I have my eye on the Digitone and Syntakt now xD
Love your grooves and how you explain all the parameter and lite intro to trigs for I am shocked how powerful this small box is!!!!
From one teacher to another, you are a great teacher. Giving students small nuggets up front to get excited, before you deep dive, is essential.
A great help, sat here sat afternoon, pausing and then going through each step, thank you!
Great job Rafa Nadal!
Best Model Cycles Tutorial over youtube ! Thanks a lot for this video
hands down best tutorial ive seen, many thanks EZBOT, will be following all your tutorials from now on
A great tutorial. You have a clear way of explaining things, a very easy subscription.
Such a helpful video. Exactly what I was looking for. Mucho gracias
Thank you so mucho for this!
Thanks!
Really appreciate you doing this tutorial. Just got a Model Cycles {my first experience with an Elektron Sound Machine} so after reading the Manual + playing around with the knobs and push-buttons I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. Just began my Modular journey 1.5 years ago and LoVE it though it's frustrating at times... I come from playing mostly Acoustic Instruments, still play Drums, Jazz, Break-Beat, etc. So this video was extremely helpful to me and I'm quite excited to see/hear your next tutorial for the Model:Cycles.💡🎵🔥🌌👌
VERY good this tutorial!!! Thanks
Thank you for your extremely well-paced and clearly explained tutorial- this will get me going with my Model Cycles in super quick time. I bought one to compliment my Digitakt without adding too much complexity (I also have an Analog Four mark 2 but, whilst it is great for sound engineering, I found it too complex for my needs). Elektron have made an excellent entry level device with a lot of the functionality of the Digitone, but with more immediate music making. Ezbot- your teachbing style is perfect, though my cats look less impressed- I blame their lack of opposable thumbs!
thank you so much! I managed to pick up a model cycles and model samples for 200 quid for the pair on a whim and they've just been sitting on my studio desk because it felt so long to try and start making something out the gate and use the menus! Can't wait to try it out when I get back from work today.
a quickstart guide that it's actually quick and not a 2 h video, good job and thannk you!
That's a great introduction to this hot little machine - it certainly cleared up a bunch of things for me. Keenly anticipating the next tutorial (I hope there will be one).
Thanks
Thank you!
"I dig it! Our pattern is coming alone")))
These are the best way to take anything you like, luv & learned on other grooveboxs, especially Korg Electribes... & apply it to a Elektron product too. The Models Cycles as a first step in acquiring & getting into Elektrons to learn about... Is far better & cheaper to decide trying Elektron products imo. The Model Samples will then become a also cheap Elektron to pair with it after. U don't have to have a big budget for simply acquiring both eventually, & knowing u don't have to buy big, to get big results still from these cheaper Elektron boxes. Using & learning from a Cycles will also make others realise they should, or can spend more... on the Digi's etc, instead of going for buying Model Samples as a next stage of buying into Elektron products too. Cycles is a perfect & worthy product to combine with a Digitone. Anyone with a Digitone should buy Cycles to use with it too. They are both impressive on there own, to own... But when used to create patterns in combo u will get a very similar result as one can from the Syntakt. The Digitone can do better FM tracks & sounds than the FM based synthesis of Syntakt. But Syntakt can take the Cycles machines & synthesis further, & one can spend more time & effort into shaping Cycles sounds more, in ways the Digitakt or Digitone also can. So the one Syntakt box, or combo of Digitone & Cycles... Are equal/opposites in that way. The Syntakt then has those 4 analogue parts... Which are a bit more flexible than 4 tracks of having some Rytm machines & drums etc to use.
I've needed this. I need to dust off my M:C now.
Excellent. Well made tutorial. I have a Digitakt and I found this extremely informative. It is the best model:cycles video I’ve watched. The only problem is that I want one... now!
By far the most useful tutorial on this device, at least that I’ve come across
Great video - thanks!
What wonderful timing… I just picked up my Model:Cycles from Patchwerks a couple weeks ago. Absolutely loving it so far. Thanks for the additional tips in such a nice format!
Hey! Happy to hear it, thanks for purchasing from Patchwerks!
Great tutorial mate! Excellent, clear communication and you certainly zip along 😀
wow this video helped me a lot. super rad.
This was awesome, thank you 😊
nice and clear tuto to begin with, thx a lot
Great tutorial, very clear and useful. Thanks mate.
Thank you for the outstanding demo. Hope to see more Cycles posts from you. Super essential and helpful for sure Cheers!
thank you so much. helped me a lot
Yet another perfect tutorial. Love the calm, chill vibe... excellent info. You need more subs, my friend.
Fantastic content, easily one of the most informative ones that I have seen. Will try out a bunch of new things/recap some stuff I had forgotten about tomorrow. Many thanks!
amazing vid thanks man
made me decide to buy this, liked the sounds ive seen from it but wanted to see a guide on its workflow
Crystal clear Level one tutorial, we need the level 2 now...
Thanks very much
Nice flow hope you do more of these
Great video! It’s an excellent real-world, practical demonstration.
Just got mine yesterday. This video is pure gold. Thanks EZ.
My friend! So happy to hear this
@@EZBOT_ I’m so happy I went for it. What a cool little synth. I didn’t think I’d like it this much. Time just flies. Got a power bank and headphones, it’s almost a perfect bedroom synth. It’s a great way to learn the Elektron sequencer. Feels really good.
Amazing video, thank you very much! The best I've seen so far
Yeah. Fair play. This is an excellent video.
My dog had a little bit of a hard time with this video at first but by the end he was groovin out, so thanks.
What kind of dog you got?
@@EZBOT_ Beagle
@@harveytherobot I have a dog of similar proportions: Labrador Jack Russel mix
Muchísimas gracias! Muy bien explicado, el mejor vídeo para principiantes que encontré en RUclips!
Amazing - super clean
Really well presented info. Just got my Cycles, so this is perfect. Thanks 👍🏻
Thank you
Excellent video. Very clear teaching manner. Subscribed.
Thank u very much! 👍🏿😎👍🏿
really awesome thank you
Since I’ve got my Model:Cycles I’ve watched this video too many times!
Amazing vid mate! Thank you so much for the quality of your content I’m learning so much about elektron machines with you ❤
Wow, excellent tutorial! 💯 Thank you very much for your work!
Great video, there were a few bits and tricks in there, I didn't know about
Super useful guide, thank you for making the video!!
27:00 Hidden mute mode! Love it 👌😄
Haha that’s a good one right?!
@@EZBOT_ mhh today it doesn't work it says "save pattern to project?"
Any hint? 😢
Found, it only works if the pattern is new and not already saved 😢
I have to commend on a truly well put together tutorial/video. I’ve been thinking about getting this machine (or the model:cycles) for a while, but because of the Elektron workflow been a bit hesitant! You’ve done a great job of demystifying the work structure of this box! 🙏🏽👍🏽🇬🇧
Thanks mate. Always insightful and easy to follow.
Yo super helpful, thank you!
So great ! Thanks !
amazing, this is exactly what i needed!
Very inspiring for this parent - thx a lot. Vital intro and brilliant outtro😂🙏🏾❣️
Thanks! haha
Nice tutorial. Thanks!
this was really helpful. thanks!
Thanks for this video, learned so much from it. Really clear and entertaining :)
Super good content, thank you 🙏
Really clear & helpfull thks!!!!
THank You Brother man
superb! thanks so much!!!
THANK YOU❤
Fantastic toturial, it ie better than reading the manual. BUT the Drum fill had me read the manual anyway... i did not noticed that you turned off the recording mode..
Very helpful !! Many thanks !!
Thanks. Lots of detail.
Thank you!
Hello, is there any way to save pattern for each tracks seperately ? For example i want to start with track 1 closed hihat and save it on pattern 1 and then change the rhythm a little bit and save it to pattern 2 as a transition, is that possible or we have to save patterns for all tracks chained together ?
thanks a lot!!!
Estou a adorar a maneira como explicas a máquina! Muito bem explicado!
Really cool! Thx
great tutorial thnku! :)
Cool. Thank you...
If you like the pitch of a kick higher up say number 8 on the keyboard, how do you put that kick into the pattern? Do you have to record it in?
You can adjust either the pitch parameter or the note. Hold the trigger and turn the pitch or main encoder for notes
@ Thankyou very much, and great video
Can you help with the audio? how did you get the audio from the Cycles into you pc? I am confused about the two jacks
I used an audio interface. Do you own an interface?
@@EZBOT_ After reading the manuals for a some audio interfaces, I realized I need a two jack to one "stereo" jack. Took me a while. Thanks
Tysm!
How did you get the velocity of your "Track" pads to be more sensitive?
I think in track settings, it’s been a long time
@@EZBOT_ I found it - had to change the track pads to a fixed velocity and set it high. Thanks for the reply! What's your go-to these days?
We really need trig panning on the models , I know you can use lfos but it would be nice to have like on takt & tone cheers mate.
my unit only does a fill when i press track with the page button... why is that? great vid btw
How do I sync cycles with a blooper pedal ?
I don’t have a blooper pedal but I believe you’ll need to convert your MIDI to a 1/4” cable. I am sure there is a tutorial on it here in the RUclips abyss. In the cycles you just turn on sync out in the settings menu
@@EZBOT_ thanks for the info
Does the elektron guitar pick do tone locks?
It does indeed! It has an auto-shred feature
a question: is ELEKTRON Model:Cycles good for dub techno music?
Yes, but you may still want a sampler or sample player to accompany it for vocal samples
@@EZBOT_ i want use for instrumental only and effects.
@@pizio73 it’s a great machine for that
Imo... it's a absolute gem of a electro dub drum box. The Elektron lfo's can be step/trig locked on any step & sound in a tracks sequence... So u can modulate heaps of wobbles, wibbles & fizzles into things.
A good tip with Cycles to make panning automation & variations per step... Is to use velocity as a control for pan. It really opens up the Cycles to be more interesting when panning creativity in the stereo field, for better patterns as a result. I would just parameter lock volume/distortion knob events, to replace velocity as a normal use for levels on steps... & set up velocity instead for panning any steps. I'll explain how to properly set up velocity for panning if readers of this need to ask. But basically u want 0 velocity to be the value of either hard left or right pan position, & 127 value is hard panning of the opposite position of that... Any of the values in-between obviously become the rest of the l & r panning positions in the stereo field. Value of 64 is centre pan.
The problem with temporary save is that It doesn't save the mute state of the channel. Nor it's saved in a pattern 😢
Thanks
Hey EZBOT ! Cool tuto, you learn to me some new tricks... Thanks for that :)
I have a new one for you : push function + arrow/pad menu, its a very useful stuff which give more mojo ;)
See you around !
Thanks! :)
